The first all - steel cabooses for the Chesapeake & Ohio Railroad were made in 1937 by the Magor Car Corporation in Clifton, N.J. Along with St. Louis Car Company and ACF, Magor built 350 cabooses for the C&O with a similar design, the last ones in 1949.
