Open hopper cars are ideal for carrying commodities like coal. They've been used globally when automated cargo handling is needed. Unlike gondola cars, hoppers have doors on the underside or sides to unload cargo. Our model's offset-side 4-bay hopper evolved from earlier 2-bay designs and can unload faster thanks to four underside doors.

They are weighted for good performance, so they should run smoothly on tracks with a minimum radius of 18 inches. When handling, be gentle with the separately applied brake wheel to avoid damage.
