Kit Classics™ freight cars are ideal for sharing this timeless tradition with the next generation of model railroaders. The product features an all-new roadname, multiple road numbers, finely cast details like stirrup steps and end ladders, a molded interior with rivets and bracing, a separately applied handbrake wheel, one-piece detailed Bettendorf trucks, 33” machined metal wheels, accurately profiled .110” wide wheel tread, plastic semi-scale Type E knuckle couplers (Kadee compatible), a body-mounted coupler box for Kadee whisker couplers, weighted to industry standards, operates on Code 70, 83 and 100 rail, comes with packaging for safe storage when assembled, and has a minimum radius of 18”. In 1926, the Car Construction Committee of the American Railroad Association (ARA) designed this 70 Ton self-clearing hopper car, which shared many features with the 50 Ton car. Over ten thousand were built for 7 railroads between 1926 - 1930, and many lasted into the 1960s with some going to second-hand owners.

Using this Scaletrains hopper kit is a breeze. First, gather a Phillips screwdriver and some glue. Then, follow the included instructions to assemble the parts. It won't take you long to have your model ready. When handling the model, be careful with the small details like the stirrup steps and grab irons. They are finely cast and can be easily damaged. For maintenance, keep the model in the provided packaging when not in use to protect it from dust and scratches. If the wheels get dirty, you can gently clean them with a soft cloth. Make sure to operate it on Code 70, 83 or 100 rail and remember that the minimum radius for operation is 18 inches. Have fun building and running your model railroad!
