PROTOTYPE AND BACKGROUND INFO:
In the 1960s, railroading was evolving. The North American Car Corporation designed and built a 50-foot outside post, insulated, plug door box car, which was a preview of future developments. Many railroads used this car, often leased to private shippers. The NACC cars had complex and colorful paint schemes. At that time, general leasing, billboard paint schemes, and modern freight handling were still about a decade away.

Using this Athearn N scale box car is easy. Just place it on your N scale track and couple it with other cars using the McHenry® operating scale knuckle couplers. It's weighted for optimum performance, so it should run smoothly on your track with a minimum radius of 9 ¾ inches. When handling the car, be gentle with the etched metal stirrup steps and the machined 33-inch metal wheels. Avoid dropping or hitting the car as it may damage the detailed molded underframe or other parts. For maintenance, you can use a soft, dry cloth to clean the body and wheels. If there's any dirt on the couplers, you can use a small brush to clean them carefully. Store the car in a dry and dust - free place when not in use to keep it in good condition.
