In the 1960s, the railroading industry was evolving. The North American Car Corporation designed and built a 50’ outside post, insulated, plug door box car. It was a glimpse into the future of railroading. Many railroads had this car, often bought or leased by private shippers. The NACC cars had complex and colorful paint schemes. At that time, general leasing, billboard paint schemes, and modern freight handling techniques were still about a decade away.
